CHURCHES WE PRAYED FOR

Every week during our gatherings we intentionally pray for a number of churches at Grace City, in our city, in our region, and in our world. This last week we prayed for:

  • Grace City Church of Wissinoming as well as asking God to work through our work in the neighborhoods of Frankford and Morrell Park.
  • Soma Church in Bridesburg.
  • Risen Hope Church in Drexel Hill. They are a partner church in Sovereign Grace.
  • Christ Community Church in Ndola, Zambia. They are a partner church in Sovereign Grace

As you read, stop and pray for the spread of the gospel in these churches and their cities.

HURRICANE MARIA SUPPORT FUND

If you’re wondering how you can help some of the many people that are dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Maria, one of our partner churches in Sovereign Grace, Iglesia Gracia Soberana, in Gaithersburg, MD has set up a relief fund that will be distributed by churches on the island to meet the needs of their congregations and their communities. Parenting Resources

During our recent Parenting & the Gospel seminar, we were glad to give away and recommend some great resources to help as we seek to pass on the Gospel to our children as they grow up. Below are a list of those resources with a brief description. Click on any of the graphics below to be sent to a link where you can purchase or download each resource.

The Big Picture Story Bible is a phenomonal children’s Bible that uses illustration and story to help kids see the big picture of scripture. They will see that God always keeps his promises, and that we see him keep his biggest promise in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus.
The Jesus Storybook Bible is another children’s Bible that takes a look at more stories from the Bible and aims to show how “every story whispers his name”.
The Ology is a beautifully illustrated systematic theology for kids. It is specifically written for children ages 6-12, but can be very helpful in teaching doctrine and the story of redemption for kids that are also younger or older than that range.
Long Story Short by Marty Machowski is designed to be a ten minute family devotional from stories in the Old Testament. It will help your children connect God’s plan of salvation as we see it progress through the Old Testament.
Old Story New builds on Marty’s first family devotional Long Story Short by adding seventy eight stories from the New Testament while following the same ten minute format.
The final devotional resource from Marty is entitled Wise Up. This resource follows the 10-minute family devotion format with content from the book of Proverbs. Instead of having a focus of strictly teaching the morals from Proverbs, Wise Up connects each day’s lesson on wisdom to the good news of the gospel that gives us power to “wise up” and the forgiveness we need when we fail.
Parenting is a book for parents written by Paul Tripp. It aims to change you as a parent by pointing you to fourteen gospel-centered principles for parenting rather than focusing on techniques or strategies. It will also provide relief for parents from the burden of raising perfect kids. Instead, he encourages parents to point kids to our perfect Savior.
Another helpful book for helping parents grow is The Disciple-Making Parent by Chap Bettis. It walks through the different stages of parenting as your children grow. So whatever age your kids are, there is great wisdom in this book for you.
Dragon Seed is novel for pre-teens and teens that follows the biblical allegory of the dragon from Revelation 12. The goal of Dragon Seed is to teach its readers about the harmful effects of pride.
We believe that music is a very helpful tool for helping children learn the truths of scripture as well as teaching them what worship through song looks like. Sovereign Grace Music has produced several great albums over the years that we would recommend. Click any of these album names to be forwarded to their description and options for purchase from Sovereign Grace Music: The Ology, Walking with the Wise, To Be Like Jesus, and Awesome God.
