EASTER-HUNTThis Saturday at 11:00am, the 4th Annual Mayfair Memorial Playground Easter Egg Hunt is taking place at the field in front of Lincoln High School. Because of your generous contributions of candy over the past three Sundays, we were able to deliver an overflowing box of candy and plastic eggs to the organizers of the event. EasterSaturday at 12:30pm, we will be gathering in the parking lot at Lincoln H.S. to go into Mayfair with doorhanger invitations for our Good Friday & Easter Gatherings. Please consider coming out to help us spread the word about these upcoming gatherings, and pray that God would bring many new people out to Grace City to hear the gospel.

Benevolent Offering

This Sunday, we will be collecting the monthly benevolent offering that is used to meet emergency needs of families within the church and in our community. Please pray about your contribution. If you need to benefit from this resource please fill out a benevolence request form at the Information & Resource table on a Sunday, or talk to your Discipleship Community leader or any members of the pastoral team. Tailgate Sunday

Tailgate

We are looking forward to our first ever Tailgate Sunday this week. Since this is a first for us at Grace City, we thought that it would be helpful to provide a Tailgating Survivor’s Guide for you to have the ultimate tailgating experience. Below you’ll see ideas of what to bring and what will already be available in the parking lot on Sunday. As always, if you have any questions after reading this, feel free to email info@gracecityphilly.com or call the Grace City office at 215.677.2088.

Tailgating Survivor’s Guide

What to Bring

  • Chairs– Because we will be in a parking lot, you’ll want to be as comfortable as possible while you eat and hang out. For the experienced tailgater, this may be a recliner, but to novices, a lawn chair will do just fine.
  • Games– The ultimate tailgating experience has to include games. We’d encourage you to bring games such as washers, cornhole, or ladderball which are all classic tailgating games. First time tailgaters may be confused at these names. If that is you, find an experienced tailgater in the group and just go with the flow.

Praise & Prayer Night This Sunday at 6:30

Prayer & PraiseIt was the normal experience of the 1st century church to gather to rejoice in praise and pray for the sick and suffering believing that God would move in powerful life-changing ways.

Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.”  James 5:13-16

We can’t wait for this unhurried time of pouring out our hearts to God in joyful praise & desperate, expectant prayer.

Here’s how you can prepare your heart for our time of praise & prayer.

  1. Prayerfully come with expressions of praise and encouragement to share. Write them down ahead of time. Respond in faith to spontaneous impressions. Bring them to one of the pastors by the sharing microphone to see if it’s a good word for the moment.
  2. Expectantly come with your needs to be prayed for. There will be a time when the pastors ask for the sick and suffering to come to the front for prayer. Be prepared to share your sickness or suffering with them. They will pray for your healing & deliverance.
  3. Humbly come eager to serve and pray for others as God leads you. God certainly uses leaders to care for the church.  But we believe the body cares for the body. If you feel burdened to share words of hope or pray for the sick and suffering please bring that to one of the pastors by the sharing microphone to see if it’s a good word for the moment.
  4. Trust in God’s sovereign mercy. Although we strongly believe that God heals and delivers in the present like he did in the 1st century we cannot guarantee that he will. We trust God’s sovereign prerogative to bring healing & deliverance or to sustain us by his grace through extended suffering. We believe that whatever our God ordains is right.

Join us at 6:30 this Sunday night at the Ashton Rd. building. We are eager to hear from God & share as he leads, and we are longing for his mercy in healing & deliverance as we pray for one another. Let us draw near!
