Grace Happenings || August 30th- September 5th

The Word of God & Race
Every Sunday we have a large crew serving our children that are unable to listen to the sermon. We want to say thank you for serving! We also want to make it as easy as possible for you to listen to the sermon before next Sunday by providing this link to Sunday’s sermon.

Grace Happenings

Family Dedication
As parents we must be committed to transferring our love for God and the gospel of Jesus to our kids. This takes a lot of grace! Part of the grace God gives us for this great joy and responsibility comes from the community of the local church. We must help each other transfer the gospel to the next generation. Our next Family Dedication Sunday, which is taking place on Sunday September 13th, is an opportunity to present yourself as parents with your child asking God and the church to partner with you in the adventure of raising our kids to love God and believe the gospel. We are in this together!

Who can participate?

  • Parents who are members or pursuing membership at Grace City.
  • Parents whose children have been born within the past year.

If you are interested in participating in Family Dedication Sunday, please sign up online by clicking here or an upcoming Sunday.

Youth Camping 2015

adoption-vs-abortion-blog2x
We have another free resource that we want to pass your way! Adoption: What Joseph of Nazareth Can Teach Us about This Countercultural Choice, a book by Russell Moore, is being offered for free through today, Tuesday, August 18. You can visit Crossway’s website here to learn more about the book and to download it in your preferred e-book format. Please take advantage of this free resource and be challenged to see how the church needs to see adoption as a way to value and protect human life while we are surrounded by a culture of abortion and abuse.

Structured Journal
As we continue our current sermon series, we want to recommend another resource to help us take our stand with Jesus. The new Grace Alone Structured Journal from The Good News, Dudes is a simply designed journal that encourages you to read, reflect, and respond to God’s Word daily. There are spots to record the date you are reading and which passage you are in, as well as a place to reflect on your reading and respond by writing out a prayer. One of the most helpful things on each page is a place to consider what you should share with your friends and family by using the hashtag #GraceAlone. Each journal is a hardbound book with 192 pages for entries with three color designs to choose from. Journals are available online here for $12 and at upcoming Sunday Gatherings for only $10.

GCC Picnic 2015
Join us this Saturday at Beulah Land Swim Club for the Grace Family Picnic. It is always a great time to get together with the congregations of Grace City and make some memories. Amenities at Beulah Land include basketball, volleyball and tennis courts, two playgrounds for the kids, a creek for nature lovers, a pavilion with shade to enjoy lunch and of course a really big pool! If you weren’t able to grab the information pamphlet on a recent Sunday, we will be emailing details later this week.

As we kicked off our new sermon series two weeks ago, Ian recommended a book from Kevin DeYoung entitled, Taking God At His Word. This is a very helpful book on helping followers of Jesus understand why we must build our lives on the authority of the Bible. The publisher of this book, Crossway, has made this book available to download for FREE!!! Please take advantage of this great opportunity to have a very helpful resource at your fingertips at no cost to you. You can click this link to fill out a short questionnaire which will then lead you to your options for which e-book format you prefer to download. Do this right away because the free offer only lasts until today, July 14th.

VBS
This year’s edition of VBS, The Quest: Seeking The Greatest Treasure, started last night. We were excited to host 78 kids and look forward to teaching God’s Word to many more as the week goes on. If your kids weren’t able to join us on the first night, they are still welcome to join us for as many nights as they can for the rest of the week. You can register them as you arrive to VBS or by using the online form from this link. Please continue to pray that God will use this year’s teachings to reach many of the kids in our church and city with the gospel.
