“For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ.” 1 Corinthians 12:12
Is Membership in the Bible?
Even though there’s no verse that says, “Thou shalt join a church,” we believe that to do what the New Testament commands, you need to do just that. In the book of Acts, people believed in Jesus, were baptized, and were added to the church.
What Is Membership all about?
Because the Bible calls the church Christ’s body (1 Cor. 12:12; Eph. 4:16) and God’s building (1 Cor. 3:9; 1 Pet. 2:5), every follower of Jesus has a part to play. So membership is about commitment – to the mission and to one another. God puts people together in His church so that we can serve one another and our community through loving words and deeds. In God’s providence, the church needs you – and you need the church!
How Can I Become a Member?
If you’re ready to commit, or even thinking about it, sign up for the next membership class, which is the first step in our membership process. It’s a great opportunity to learn what we’re all about at Grace. If those dates don’t work for you, don’t worry—we’ll have another class in a few months.
In the class we will spend our time talking together about the identity & mission of the church and what it means to serve one another through love. You’ll also learn the next steps to joining our growing family of followers of Jesus.
